01Observations

  • The premises are a two-storey workshop unit inside an industrial park, not a standalone plant.
  • The sign above the gate reads 恒泰金属制品 (Hengtai Metal Products). The business licence displayed inside the office carries the same trade name.
  • Two production halls were visible: tube cutting and bending on the ground floor, welding on the first floor.
  • Approximately 38 people were working at the time of the visit.
  • The yard held three vehicles, two of them loaded with finished frames.
  • The contact stated that powder coating is done in-house. No coating line was visible on either floor, and the contact then said it is done “at our other site”.
  • There is no showroom. The office has three desks and one meeting table.

The three names are consistent. This confirms the entity exists and that the sign belongs to it. It does not confirm that the entity owns the building.

03The site

Industrial park unit, shared block, approximately 900–1,100 m² across two floors. Neighbouring units are occupied by unrelated businesses. No evidence of the unit being sublet, and no second company name on any door.

04Production

Tube cutting, bending and welding were all running. Work in progress on the floor matched the aluminium frame profile the client described. No coating, anodising or packing line observed.

The contact described the business as “a factory with full finishing capability”. On the evidence of this visit, finishing is not carried out at this address.

05Points to resolve

  1. Where exactly is the powder coating done, and is that entity owned by or related to Hengtai?
  2. If coating is outsourced, who carries the quality risk on finish defects?
  3. The licence lists a registered capital that is modest for the volume described — ask how the line is financed.

06What this visit could not confirm

  • Whether Hengtai owns or leases the unit
  • Actual monthly capacity, in tonnes or units
  • Whether the goods shown were destined for this client or another buyer
  • Product conformity to any specification
  • Export history, customs records, or destination markets
  • Financial standing, litigation, or the status of related entities
  • Whether the powder coating subcontractor meets the client’s requirements

This section is not a disclaimer. It is the boundary of what one person can establish in two and a half hours, and you should treat anything outside it as unknown.

08No recommendation

This report does not advise you to proceed, renegotiate or walk away. It records what was observed at one address on one day, and states what the visit could not establish. The decision needs your margins, your customer and your risk appetite — none of which are visible from a factory gate.
